The Amazonas drainage in northern South America contains a wide range of aquarium fishes from territorial cichlids and greedy catfishes to tiny tetras that live in schools. There are many different kinds of biotopes present in the Amazonas, and quite often driftwood or tree roots form an integral part of these fishes' natural environment.
Amazonas backgrounds have been created with this fact in mind, and thus feature a very natural-looking tree stump with roots placed in the center.
Amazonas 200 cm was the first background to be introduced at the Interzoo fair in Nuremberg in 1994, and attracted an enormous amount of attention at the time. To this day, this is the background that still draws people more than any other, and is a real bestseller, in spite of the fact that this background requires more space than the others.
Amazonas 60-160 cm does not take up as much space as the Amazonas 200 cm, and allows people to install an Amazonas background even in relatively smaller aquariums.
The 200 cm Amazonas should be installed in aquariums with a minimum depth of 60 cm (70 cm or more is preferable).
The 80-160 cm Amazonas models should be installed in aquariums with a minimum depth of 35 cm (40-50 cm or more is preferable).
The 60-cm Amazonas should be installed in aquariums with a minimum depth of 20 cm (25 cm or more is preferable).

Orinoco is a "flatter" background which perfectly fits into modern aquarium furniture which is not as deep (for example Juwel). In spite of these backgrounds' relative flatness and their reduced need for space in the aquarium, there is still enough space in one corner for both the filter and the heater. This background is supplied in two sections, simplifying installation.
Orinoco should be installed in aquariums with a minimum depth of 25 cm (30-40 cm or more is preferable).
